Você sabia que a palavra SHOW, embora seja de origem inglesa, é usada de forma um pouco diferente quando estamos falando em inglês?
‘Show’ tem vários significados, vem comigo que eu te explico neste post que está show! (não usamos show nesse contexto em inglês 😉)
😎 Quando achamos algo ‘show’ em português devemos usar ‘that’s nice, that’s awesome, that’s cool, that’s interesting!’
🎸 ‘Show’ também não é usado apenas para falar de apenas performances musicais! Para falar dessas performances, podemos usar as palavras ‘show’, ‘concert’ (grande performance musical) ou ‘gig’ (shows menores, palavra geralmente usada pela perspectiva do artista) .
Exemplos:
I went to Rock in Rio and I saw Metallica’s concert.
Lady Gaga’s concert was amazing.
I’m going to a concert tonight.
I wish I was alive then to see Queen with Freddy Mercury in concert.
My band’s first gig was in a pub.
I didn’t laugh much at his comedy gig.
🤨 Quando usamos SHOW então?
Show é uma palavra usada para falar de outros tipos de entretenimento, como na TV, no rádio, no teatro, no YouTube.
Exemplos:
You like that TV show.
What’s your favorite TV show?
I went to a gallery to see an independent art show.
The band is playing a live show on TV tonight.

on show – à mostra
Her paintings will be on show tonight at the gallery.
for show – para mostrar, para impressionar
He can’t play the guitar, but he has one just for show.
to steal the show – roubar a cena

go to show – serve para mostrar
